Franklin County Opiate Crisis Task Force

WABA's president, Nancy Day-Achauer, is a member of the Franklin County Opiate Crisis Task Force

Dr. Anahi Ortiz Franklin County Coroner
In the last 24 hours Franklin County has had 5 overdose deaths.  At this time we do not know if they are heroin or fentanyl related but at least half of these will be according to what we have been seeing. I have read many of the comments to the news report and it saddens me that people still do not understand addiction.
I would like to announce the formation of the Franklin County Opiate Crisis Task Force; our first meeting will be held on August 5. Many of the agencies working with addiction have worked hard to create a Community Action Plan which will guide the Task Force. This will be available by the end of July and it will be posted on our new Task Force Web site which will also be ready by the end of July.
In addition, we are working on a Speaker's Bureau to help our residents learn about addiction, treatment, recovery, history of opiates, etc. If your group or organization would like more information on the history of opiates, addiction, treatment , recovery, etc, please message me.
Please think about these words from Thomas Merton:
".The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all these living beings, which are all part of one another and all involved in one another."
